China Trip: Day 2 and 3
I’M HOME! (:
I touched down a couple of hours ago and had Popeye’s chicken the moment I stepped out of immigration!
It’s finally nice to be able to understand what people around you are saying and coming into contact with polite people once again (: And grandmama and grandpapa waited up for Marc and I to reach home, just to make sure we got home safely (:
What a warm welcome! :D
I knocked out for half of the 5 hour flight home because I was under super drowsy medication! Super potent but it worked miracles and I’m well. So I’m really hyper and totally not sleepy =S
I just transferred my Shanghai photos to my computer and I took a whopping 758 photos! It’s a lot considering that there were like a few days which I took barely 10photos! Before I start uploading photos, please excuse my makeupless face (hence, I don’t suggest you click on the photos to enlarge lest you want to get nightmares! HAHA) It’s a relaxed holiday and moisturizers and lip balm were my new besties for the trip.
HELLOOOO! (:
I’m back from Beijing and back in Shanghai again!
Sorry for the lack of updates as the internet connection here is really slow (both in Beijing and Shanghai!) so I am unable to upload the photos! :( boos.
Since I’ll be heading home in about 3 days, I’ll update when I reach back home k? (:
This trip has been amazing! i finally saw the Great Wall of China and it’s seriously GREAT! DAMN BIGG! And I went skiing for the first time ever!! :D Cheap cheap skiing! (: Will tell everyone more about it when I reach back home on Monday!!
TOODLES! (: see you soon! :D
SHANGHAI DAY ONE
HELLO FROM SHANGHAI! (:
Sitting in my parents’ room while they’re packing for Beijing tomorrow in my poofy jacket with 4 layers underneath, my socks and my bedroom slippers!
Been really busy with the family and Marc so I’m here to do a quick update before I fly off to BeiJing tomorrow morning for the next 5 days and will be staying at Uncle Ted’s hotel franchise! And I’ll finally get to see the Great Wall of China for real! :D And I apologise for the lack of photos cos I haven’t really taken many because we havent done that much sightseeing in the first 2 days cos we were doing other practical stuff like shopping for warmer clothes! haha. I’ll be updating day by day while I’m here and continue with the super long updates when I get back home to my cosy room in Singapore! :D
Shanghai has been awesome so far!! (: The dry weather kinda sucks actually! So badly that I’m actually sorta missing Singapore’s hot and humid weather! But other than that, all’s been well (:
DAY ONE:
Marc and I went to Terminal 3 for our flight to Shanghai ad had our craving for Popeye’s chicken satisfied! (: The flight there on China Eastern was actually pretty bad!! :( The staff were pretty rude and unhelpful (maybe it’s because I couldn’t speak perfect proper Mandarin! HAHA) and there was a crying and screaming baby on the same lane as us! Hence, it was a pretty long ride considering that we couldn’t sleep! The food was okay, a little on the bland side but it’s edible! The air was dry (much drier than other airline’s I’ve taken so far!) so I kinda got really bad sinus and dry nose when I was up in the air. Pretty uncomfortable actually! :( And the staff actually tsk-ed me when I asked her for a pen!! don’t mean to sound spoilt but I really appreciate SIA and other service airlines after this ride. But it’s a little early to judge cos it’s my first time on China Eastern so I’ll do my reviews on it only after I take my flight back. Hopefully, I’ll be in a different vessel then!
We got off the plane and took the Maglev (The World’s Fastest Train) that went up to 432km/hr! It was pretty awesome to have a ride on that and see things pass us by like that. It was really really fast! I was excited and well, pretty amazed at the technology at the moment! (: WE HAD PORK BURGER FROM MCDONALDS!! The moment we got off the Maglev while waiting for Daddy and the brother to pick us up to home! My bro has long hair now! haha. I’ll put up pictures in Day 2 pictures! (: It’s really good actually! I’ve heard lots of people raving about it and I finally got to eat it in Shanghai!
Accommodation here with Mummy and Daddy is fantastic! (: The house is much bigger but colder than the previous one that I stayed at when I came with Ade and Shir last year! I’m sharing a room with my parents cos there’s only 2 guest rooms which Marc and my bro are staying at! My bro is seriously living like a King! His room is enormous and disgustingly big! He has this King sized bed while I have a 3ft wide bed and about my height in length for me to lie on! :( pffft.
Had a nice, typical Shanghainese dinner with the whole family after Mummy ended work that day! The food was good but the restaurant wasn’t too pleasant! :( I finally appreciate Singapore’s non-smoking law in restaurants cos it actually kills the eating experience when every other person is smoking in the restaurant!
WE WENT FOR OUR FULL BODY MASSAGE IMMEDIATE AFTER! (:
It was at a place near our home called Bamboo7! (you can click on the link to check it out!) The ambiance is really nice and the staff are really friendly! Plus it was only RMB51 per hour (which is equivalent to about s$10) and they are much better than many places in Singapore! So it was definitely worth every cent! (: They cracked all my horribly cramped up bones from my pre and post exams activities! (: And when they say full body massage, the really mean it because it’s really full body! From the head all the way to the toes! She even massaged my ears! Now I feel so much more relaxed and happy after all that cracking and what not!! HAHA. LOVE IT! (:
Watched a little TV with my family and Marc before heading to sleep!
Horrible nose from post-flight actually gave me pretty bad sleep! :(
THAT’S DAY ONE IN SHANGHAI! (: Loving it so far! :D
I’ll be back after Beijing with more photos! MY FIRST TIME IN BEIJING! (:
Can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait! (:
TOODLES! (:
Abu’s finally 21! :D
** This shall be my last post from my home in Singapore for the next 2 weeks cos in 7hours’ time, I’ll be off to SHANGHAI FROM 7 TO 21 DECEMBER for loads of xiao long paos, xian jian paos, tang paos, ALL THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF PAOS IN THE WORLD! (: and of cos to meet up with my mum, dad and bro (whom I haven’t seen for 2 years) **
I was actually planning to update this space only after I reached Shanghai but plans have been changed and I now have time to update because I’m all packed! (:
TODAY WAS ADE’S BIRTHDAY PARTYYYY! (:
Met Sheri, Jess, Mar and Mere in town first to get her present! (YUP LAST MINUTE!)
I will not disclose what we got her for here just yet in case she decides to save her present opening till the actual birthday! Even though I highly doubt it’ll happen, I will not risk it! :D HOPE TO LIKE IT DEAR GIRL! (:
We took much shorter than anticipated and had surplus amount of time to go window shopping and food shopping for ourselves! :D
I got most of my travel essentials (ultra hydrating moisturizer, lip balm, hydrating facial foam, etc.) today and trooped down to Sephora at Ion for a bit because we had time to kill before Jess and Sheri’s hair appointment! :D
I GOT MYSELF MY FIRST NAIL BUFFER! (NOOB!) and the only reason I got it because the colours were so attractive and happy! (: PLUS it was the 4-in-1 buffer so I, being a very lazy person, had to get it for the convenience of it!
Headed to Tanjong Pagar for their hair styling! Dropped them off and had yet another threesome moment with Mere and Mar!
We headed to Amara Hotel’s shopping centre because there was no where else to go and took pictures with a pretty Christmas tree and some really random shots at Burger King!
haha. DO YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN THE FINGERS? (:
We got bored of staring into space, feeling all tired and old so I took out my newest toy – THE NAIL BUFFER! and decided to test the minimum number of seconds required for each step in order to attain reasonable results. The conclusion, 4seconds per step is sufficient! As you can see, there is a pretty big difference in the shine! :D The thing we do when we’re bored. (Just like how Jasne noticed the tutututut sound goes off 13 times in the red line and 10 on the green! HAHA)
We got a little bored of hanging around the shopping center because other than the awesome Watsons that was filled with goodies (and I got my dad some Swiss Chocolates), there as absolutely nothing! So we decided to walk about to the hair salon to meet the other two!
BUT GOT DISTRACTED AGAIN because we kept seeing different groups of people taking photos with the wall! So being part of a collective society, we had to give it a go as well! :D
Sadly, we got the stupid Parking sign and the name of the Thai restaurant in our photo! :( But it was inevitable as the area was pretty secluded and there wasn’t many people around whom we could ask to take a picture for us! :(
So we took the shot with our make-shift tripod! :D SERIOUSLY, I’M DAMN PROUD OF IT!
Made of 6 bars of Swiss Chocolate, One nail polish removing wet tissue packet, my nail buffers and Mar’s handphone! (: INGENIOUS AREN’T WE?
Headed to Beer Station at Villa Frangipani at Gilman Village for Ade’s 21st! (:
No Villa Bali cos almost everyone has heard of it or been there before.
THREE HAPPY PEOPLE = one awesome day (:
MY MSN CONVERSATION WITH MY FATHER.
Daddy: I’m not only good father but good husband too
Sarah: WAH! you’re ego’s damn big.
.
.
.
Daddy: I will bring a jacket for him at the airport. Tell Marc dont’ worry. See I’m not only good father but good gf’s father. Like the song says “SIMPLY THE BEST”
Sarah: -faints- I give up.
he never fails to crack me up. (: MONDAY TO SHANGHAI! (:
______________________________________________________
I went on a date with Charissa and Leon yesterday at Orchard Central!
We decided to go there because Leon and I haven’t been there before! (All hail the mountain tortoise comments!)
It was the first time there and we kinda got lost around the place! Level 4 and below were the affordable, budget friendly things but above that, we got a little intimidated. Orchard Central actually looks much smaller than it really is from the outside! Or it may just be me! =S
Anyways, we went to Spageddies at Orchard Central.
The waitress tried to take our order 3 times in a span of 5 mins when we have been seated for less than 7 minutes! HAHA. By the way, I’m not exaggerating here! But I guess she’s new and probably learning. It’s always better to be more efficient than slow anyways! I order the Mussel Pasta served with Aglio Olio as the side dish while Char and Leon ordered the beef penne! PLEASE DO NOT ORDER MY PASTA! :( The pasta came cold, and the mussels were obviously overcooked. I had problems chewing it. (yeah granted I had a toothache, it still was really really tough!) And the sauces were a little too salty for my liking! So while Char and Leon sat down there saying how good their meal was, I sat down, rather miserable, attempting to chomp down my food! While the Spageddies at Marina Square is still fantastic, the one at Orchard Central wasn’t. But I had no complaints cos Char had splendid news for us! I would shout it out and start throwing confetti out and what not but she told me to keep it hush hush till it’s done proper! OOOH THE SUSPENSE! :D
ORCHARD CENTRAL WAS BORING ANYWAY!
So the awesome threesome (HAH.) went over to Somerset 313 instead! It was so crowded there and it definitely felt more like a shopping center than Orchard Central!
(Below pictures can be enlarged! CLICK)
MISS KWOK is hilarious in her own little way and never fails to amuse me!
PSST.. The reason why these 3 photos were taken (the various combination of all of us) is because SHE WAS ABSOLUTELY AMUSED BY THE FACT THAT SOMERSET 313 IS A CARPETED SHOPPING MALL! Bet most of you didn’t realize the specialty of this shopping center as well (: But I guess it’s not cost-friendly! They cant sweep the floor (you’ll need to vacuum) and the place is going to stink on rainy days when everyone walks in with their wet shoes, making the entire mall smelly and dirty! Quite gross actually!
And I saw a BIG FAT JOLLY OLD MAN THERE!
